Etsy Pick: Little Red Riding Hood brooch

This brooch by UK Etsy seller Laura Donald is both evocative and strikingly minimalist, and I think it would look jaw-droppingly cool on some of the red, white and black outfits I've seen gracing the streets recently. Adding a little fairytale mystique to an otherwise businesslike wardrobe is a great way to subvert styles, and I think this brooch would do the job nicely.

Seen close up, it's easy to make out the bottle cap that the centre of the brooch is made from. The background is made from tea-stained paper with a tiny hand-cut paper tree in black in front of it. The figure of Little Red Riding Hood, complete with striped stockings, is hand drawn onto plastic before being shrunk in the oven. Shrinky-dink chic!
