Steampunk your sci-fi
There is nothing cooler in the world than covering everything in bits of wood and metal if you are a lover of steampunk, which I very much am. Give me a clanking version of anything that looks like it fell straight out of Jules Verne story and I'll be there trying to distract you with something shiny while I steal it.
Lucky for me there are other steampunk freaks out there too and they're a crafty bunch. So when I stumbled across this steampunk R2-D2 (or R2-Steamtoo) marrying the steampunk part of me and the sci-fi geek I had to share.
Amoebaboy's blog takes you through some of the process of making the little guy and wandering through his blog looking at his other creations is an eye-opener too. I'm especially in love with the flying saucer lamp.
If you don't have his metal-chopping-up skills though you can always content yourself with Instructable's steampunk goggles. I may well have to give them a go. I'll save you a seat in the dirigible.
