How to: speed knit

speedknitting.jpgSchoooooooom! Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it Speedy Gonzales after too many cans of fizzy drink? No, it's you knitting. Those needle slinging folks at Knit Picks have put together a how to video that promises you the speed stitching skills of World Record Holder Miriam Tegels (118 stitches in one minute). The perfect skill for the final push to finish your Christmas knitting.

Miriam knits continental style for a start so you might have to learn something new. There's an excellent video on KnittingHelp.com here.

Other tips are to relax, keep your movements small and a bit of tension keeping to help maintain smooth movements. See the full speed knitting tutorial here.

You can also get a bit of inspiration from our British contender Hazel Tindall in this video.

Just remember it was me who passed it on when you're giving your thank you speech at the next World Speed Knitting Championships.
