How to: make Knit Night cupcakes

530518766_a6e1b338f7.jpgThere's an eerie connection between knitting and cake. Where there is the sound of softly clacking sticks and string you will probably find cake crumbs. Knitting-themed cupcakes seem the perfect way to connect the dots.

Lovely Lolo of VeganYumYum agrees that the connection between knitting and cake should be a cause for celebration. She created these too-cute-to-eat Knit Night Cupcakes for a friend's 'leaving Knit Night' party.

The cakes were so stitchingly spleniforous that Martha Stewart invited her onto her show to share her cake-making technique. You can also see a photo tutorial.

Grab yourself some marzipan, a pair of latex gloves (I think these are optional if you want to avoid sticky fingers), food dye, some naked cupcakes and a little knitting imagination and make yourself a batch or twelve.

  • I’m in a book club and a writer’s group. I am not, however, in a proverbial ‘stitch ‘n bitch’. I wish I were, because then I’d have an excellent excuse to make these Knit Night Cupcakes from VeganYumYum. I remember seeing her on Martha Stewart awhile back demonstrating the technique.
