Doilies. What exactly are they? Floppy circles and squares of lace and fabric lounging about your house under vases or on sofa arms. They put most of us in mind of grandma's house and the smell of lavender and condensed milk. And then came the Handmade Mega Doily Rug.
The huge doily-style rug is the creation of Ladies and Gentleman, a design team made up of Jean Lee and Dylan Davis. Their aim is to use their design to encourage people to "take that paradigm-flipping plunge into a greater appreciation for what's already under the sun".
The giant floor rug is made from cotton rope and is knotted by hand. That's a whole lot of knotting and some tired arms, I should imagine since the rug is three feet wide.
