Seafarers the world over do an amazingly tough job for our benefit. They help bring many essential items to our shores in some of the harshest conditions anywhere.
In 2008 The Sailor's Society began their Woolly Hat Campaign to ask knitters to put their needles to good use making hats for these hardworking souls.
Last year they did it again and managed an amazing 1500 hats, and this year they're going to try to smash that number with a target of 1963.
Land's End will supply the materials along with any order from them or you can download the pattern and use up some of your own stash.
