People don poppies at this time of year to remember those who have laid down their lives for a greater cause.
The red blooms can be seen everywhere from celebrity judges on this year's X-Factor to people you pass in the street. It's all very well grabbing a plastic poppy but wouldn't it be nice to handmake your symbol for remembering those heroes?
Knit on the Net's lovely Susan Crawford (Just Call me Ruby) has put together a simple and stylish Knit a Poppy pattern. You can download the knitting pattern and then make an online donation of £2 to The Poppy Appeal.
It's only available until midnight on Thursday, 12th November, 2010 so get your poppy pattern now and purl yourself some pride for the brave soldiers of the Royal British Legion.
