UPDATED: The project has updated about the penguin jumpers in light of various news stories.
A penguin in a woolly jumper is a beautiful thing, and if it's a useful woolly jumper then even better!
These handknitted penguin jumpers, have popped up all over the internet thanks to a post on Laughing Squid yesterday.
The woolly wearables, being asked for by the Skeinz yarn shop , stop the oil-soaked penguins affected by the 2011 New Zealand oil spill from preening themselves and getting a beakful of nasty oil. They also keep the birds cosy while they wait to be cleaned up. There is even a pattern for them.
P-p-pick up a purled penguin. Go on.
