"In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row"
Today countries across the Commonwealth fall silent at 11 am to remember the day on 11 November 1918 when the guns of the Western Front fell silent after more than four years continuous warfare. In honour of those so tragically lost many of us wear poppies, and a handmade poppy is a lovely way to remember.
Super Paper Poppy - Instructables member =SMART= shows how to make a many-petalled poppy by upcycling several of the paper poppies you see everyone wearing
Paper Poppy Corsage - a leafty paper poppy from Oh Happy Day.
Knitted Poppy - Knit on the Net's knitted poppy designed by vintage knits queen Susan Crawford.
Crocheted Poppy - This simple crocheted poppy pattern can be found over on Australian crafter Bethel of Bethania's Flickr stream. It's designed in honour of both ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day.
Sewn Felt Poppy - An easy felt poppy from The Wishing Elephant.
Wear your handmade poppy with pride. You might also like to donate to the Poppy Appeal for The Royal British Legion, raising money to care for the nation's armed forces in return for the pattern.
