Crafty Art: Dissected books

websters-third-new.jpgThe thought of chopping up a book can make some of us booklovers break out in a cold sweat of book-massacring horror, but as ever a crafty artist comes along who helps change your mind.

These Dissected Books are the work of Julia Strand, a Minnesota-dwelling artist, who uses "knives, rotary cutters, tweezers, rulers, custom cut panes of glass, and lots of glue" to create her awe-inspiring chopped up book masterpieces.

Julia also has an Etsy shop where lucky folks can get their paws on one of their own.

Upcycling brilliance with a new life for old books.

Love. Can you imagine the Tumblr viral if she created an Alice In Wonderland one?

@Emma I wonder if there might be on in her archives. That would be fabulous!
