Knit handpuppets for charity

charity_puppets.jpgCrafty charity begins at home and here are a couple of kooky knitting patterns to help support the Prevent Abuse of Children Today (PACT) charity in making a difference and bringing about long-term change for Nigerian children.

The Stepping Stones Nigeria project have launched Read and Write Now! The project aims to train thousands of teachers to help children in Nigeria learn to read and write. The crafty angle comes in the form of the hand puppets they're asking knitters to help make.

The puppets, simple and colourful characters, will be used as tools for helping children to understand letters and sounds and the bright colours help to keep them engaged.

Find more details, free knitting patterns for a mouse, a bee and a snake, and an address to send yours to at the PACT website.
