Olek graffiti crochets a London taxi

olek_taxi.jpgThat infamous Olek has been at her woolly mischief again but this time she's on our side of the pond.

The celeb crocheter was spotted covering a London taxi in her woolly madness by the folks over at Hooked, in a process that took two full days.

Interestingly Olek doesn't like to be labelled as a 'yarnbomber' or 'yarnstormer' or 'graffiti knitter', and prefers the term "environmental graffiti" for her work.

olek_taxi_2.jpg"I don't yarn bomb, I make art", she told the New York Times in an article earlier this year, in which she claims she "considers yarn bombing to be the trite work of amateurs and exhibitionists."

For an artist who is fast becoming a yarmbombing icon she's going to have a bit of a fight to wrestle the yarnbombing crown from her head.

The environmentally graffitied taxi can currently be seen outside Tony's Gallery in London's Shoreditch area, with an exhibition by Olek running from January 13th to February 26th 2012.
