Holiday Prep: Quick DIY Home Decor to Impress the 'Rents

It can be hard having the folks 'round for the holidays. Ditto friends, colleagues, and potential 'special friends', especially en masse. But when your house is looking fab and fresh, it's just a little bit easier.

Enter this short-but-sweet DIY shower curtain tutorial, from the wonderful Home Ec in A Box. In a (possibly drunken) evening of fun with cloth markers, you can create a shower curtain that a) hides your bath and b) makes a statement. Just what that statement will be is up to you. I'm leaning towards something vaguely Socialist for my loo, the better to frighten my relatives. How about you?

After all, nothing quells the 'I haven't bought any GIFFFTS!!!!" panic like a night spent drawing garden gnomes.

Got a bit more time? You can put the fear of God into your guests with your mad crochet skills!

Yes, that is a crocheted lampshade, by Norwegian craft delight Pickles - full instructions here.

No one will be paying attention to your slightly uneven kitchen floor when a massive crocheted lampshade is in the house - this I promise you.

Good luck riding out the pre-holiday hysteria - Crafty Crafty will be with you every step of the way.
