Glass blowing used to put most people in mind of stout and sweaty men in flat caps making vases in a stifling hot rooms. Like many traditional crafts that stereotype is being blown away by the work of some amazing crafty artists - one of whom is Shayna Lieb.
Shayna's breath-taking beautiful blown glass pieces, reminiscent of coral or plants from some alien planet, are delicate works of fragile brilliance.
The artist was introduced to glass-blowing at the age of seven, when she saw the technique while visiting a University. As she says on her website "I haven't been the same since."
I'm not sure glass blowing has been the same since she breathed life into it either. Her work is amazing from her practical pieces to her inspired glass sculptures. She also makes some pretty fantastic jewellery too.
Read an interview with the glass-shaper herself and find out what she's up to next over at Don't Panic.
