Green craft has been a hot topic for a while now. But, long gone are the days of making robots out of washing-up bottles (though there's nothing wrong with that!). One of the artists changing the plastic recycling world is Sarah Turner.
Sarah creates beautiful lampshades from old plastic bottles. She collects the bottles from local coffee shops and houses in her home town of Nottingham, and then completely transforms them through her process of sandblasting and cleaning into stunning works of art.
I was lucky enough to see her work in the flesh at The Duckie Christmas Fair in December and her work is stunning. It's hard to see how she's manage to form the organic shapes out of something that is usually tossed away in the bin.
Sarah has won many awards and has exhibited around the world. But, you don't need to travel far to purchase her shades as she has a fantastic website and shop online.
I am certainly inspired by her work and look forward to seeing her designs in the future.
