How To: Knit and Bake Giant LEGO

LEGO building blocks are great - but what if they were giant and slightly cuddlier? Surely these are the questions that define our times!

This great project idea from lizzyastro on Instructables fulfills the dream of making LEGO softer, cuddlier and somehow more awesome, by creating a door stopper in the shape of a massive LEGO brick. It's soft to the touch, but still heavy enough to keep a door open - genius!

Has this whetted your appetite for yet more soft, massive LEGO? Perhaps literally, as in, now you hungry and want to eat one? Well, Betty Crocker has a great how-to video for making your own 'building block cakes' (I'll respect their decision not to invoke the mighty L-word!)

In addition to tips on making some very credible cakes which strangely resemble LEGO, there's a quick and informative discussion of how to crumb-coat a cake, must-have knowledge for new bakers. It's a basically a clever way of icing your cake so that crumbs don't show.

Feel free, of course, to make your own icing sans the slighty over the top levels of coloration - that's what I would do. I'm starting to think about pink peppermint LEGO cakes, lemon curd LEGO cakes- however you slice it (ouch) this video's great for baking inspiration.
