How to: make a set of baby swaddling blankets

swaddling_blankets.jpg

These beautiful swaddling blankets would make such a sweet present for a new mum.

The Purl Bee has created a really easy to follow tutorial with all you need to know to make a full set of blankets fit for even the most precious of little ones.

I love the handstitched detail on the edges of each blanket, it really makes them into a beautiful keepsake.

If you aren't a mum, swaddling blankets are the best for keeping your babba snug and feeling cosy when they fist come out and for the first few months after.

By wrapping them in a tight piece of muslin or non-stretchy cloth (sorry, no knitting here) they feel much like they felt in the womb and go off sound asleep (or at least so's the thought - maybe not one to mention after you've been rocking them for hours!).

The blankets would look super cute with some hand embroidery too - a little character or the babys name perhaps?

I wish I'd seen this tutorial earlier, I'd have definitely whipped myself up a few, the ones you buy are very boring and no where near as groovy as these!

Seen any awesome baby makes? We'd love to know, drop us a note in the comments below...
