Gallery: Once Upon a Time in knitted tales

Once upon a time there a marvellous marriage between a group of talented knitty ladies called The Materialistics and the Customs House Arts Centre in South Shields.

Together the 50-strong group of crafters and the gallery used their needles and wool to conjure a whole world of woolly tales. From Hansel and Gretel, to The Jungle Book, to The Hobbit, Alice in Wonderland and the wonderful world of Roald Dahl, the ladies ran workshops where they stitched and sewed.

They invited other groups, such as Bill Quay Woolgroup and North Tyneside Art Studio to join them too.

The Once Upon a Time exhibition was recently shown at the London Pride Exhibition for the Queen's Jubilee, but if you missed it here's a grand tour especially for Crafty Crafty.
