Above: The stunning hair clips from purl bee are made from felt, clips, glue and a few stitches.
These beautiful hair clips (barrettes to our cousins across the pond) are made using a few squares of felt a little glue and a hair grip. Easy-peasy and cheap as well.
It can be tricky finding nice hair clips and when you do, they are often very dear. As always, making your own is the best option and with these two tutorials you are onto a winner.
The first is a detailed tutorial from Make Bows and More and is on how to make ribbon flowers and shows two different flowers. The instructions include step-by-step photos and instructions and although you need a soldering iron for the round petalled flower, the results look really professional.
Above: The Ribbon flower tutorial shows you how to make round ended petals and pointy ended petals.
The second tutorial from Purl Bee shows you how to make a rose hair clip, including how to attach it to the clip and also includes a free downloadable pattern. The clips are really striking and I love the photo of the little girl wearing it.
Both are great how to's and although the first doesn't include hair clip instructions, the flowers would work really well incorporated into a clip.
