New 'Craft Wars' TV show in the U.S.

As a huge fan of 'Project Runway' and recently 'Next Great Artist', so I'm quite excited to hear that the American TV channel TLC are creating a new show called 'Craft Wars'.

The concept behind these types of shows sees contestants (usually with a good history of the genre) pitted against each other in a race to win a prize.

Usually this prize involves things, such as a cash amount together with a high accolade.

Hosted and produced by Tori Spelling, the 'Craft Wars' puts crafters up against each other in two rounds of difficult challenges with different contestants on each episode.

I must admit I was pretty surprised to hear that Tori Spelling was a crafty lass... She hasn't really graced our shores since Beverly Hills: 90210! But, she has her own line of crafty products and has been known to get out the odd paint brush or two on her reality show 'Tori and Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood'.

Speaking about her new role on Craft Wars, Spelling said:

"As a lifelong crafter, I love how crafting gives you the opportunity to really express yourself and show your creativity. It's an amazing outlet and nothing shows love more than something homemade. I can't wait to share my passion and be inspired by all the amazing contestants on 'Craft Wars'."

The huge North American craft shop, Michaels is the sponsor, with crafters being let loose in the store with a budget to buy anything they need for each challenge.

It's set to air on June 26th, but I'm afraid that's in the U.S. I'm hoping that there will be a chance to view it over here soon. We'll keep you posted if we hear anything.

We can only hope that like Project Runway, the show will have it's own UK version. Maybe we can get some ex Eastenders starts to host. Martine McCutcheon with a pair of pinking shears anyone?
