This tutorial for colorful painted leather bracelets, put together by the folks at A Beautiful Mess, could be the perfect starter craft project for someone who loves the look of leathercrafts.
The lovely ladies at A Beautiful Mess have the whole rumpled-but-still-fabulous vintage chic thing down. In fact, I'm more than a little jealous - how do they always look so amazing? But they have also got quite a lot of crafty mojo, as their tutorial for Painted Leather Bracelets duly demonstrates.
The perfect introduction to working with leather, these bracelets would be great worn alone or in multiples - just the thing to go with a flowing, hippie-style sundress and leather moccasins.
The Beautiful Mess crew have stuck with First Nations-inspired triangular motifs for their bracelets, but there is infinite potential in these little rectangular scraps of wonderful. I think that simple wavy lines of color could look cool, as could a mosaic-like conglomeration of squares or diamonds. Since you're just painting on the color, you have a lot of flexibility.
Full disclosure: to make these you need a hole punch, which costs low double digits' worth of dosh. But look at this less as a minus, and more of an excuse to make enough of these to give to all of your kids' friends as summer BBQ favors, or to hand to each of the guests at your wedding.
After all, they would suit quite a few dudes, too. In short, go big - and have a ball!
