London's streets are welcoming a whole herd of handmade customised telephone boxes as the BT ArtBox project releases them into the wild today.
The customised telephone boxes (just like the eggs, elephants and cows) can be found around London from now until July 16th when they will be auctioned to raise money for the NSPCC's Childline.
My own ArtBox, 'Dial M for Monster' (Muncher for short) is currently hanging out on the Trafalgar Square Roundabout if you want to see him, and the other 83 are scattered around the city. Keep up with him over at Whodunnknit.
As an artist I took portraits of ten of my fellow artists as their ArtBoxes were being crafted. Crafty Crafty gets an exclusive sneaky peek behind the scenes of the crafty cubicles being created.
You can check out all the BT Artboxes on their BT website gallery, or better still track them down in real life and see them all their crafty glory with the BT ArtBox map.
For today only, if you want to see an ArtBox being created live pop down to Covent Garden artist Lizzie Mary Cullen will be handdrawing an entire ArtBox over a 24 hour period for First Direct. She started scribbling this morning and will keep going till 10am tomorrow. Good luck, Lizzie!
Got a favourite ArtBox? Tell us which one you love and why in the comments.
