Straight from the BBC's ace Food website, this tricolor Jubilee layer cake with real fabric bunting will make your party the stuff of very tasty legend.
Ah - the BBC. It's given us so much. Doctor Who, EastEnders, and of course Match of the Day. Okay, I admit, I am only genuinely excited about one of those things (especially when Lee Sharpe is on - phwoar!) but then their excellent website has gone and given us this lovely Jubilee cake recipe.
What could be more English than a Union flag-toned three layer cake with bunting on top? From the BBC? Not much. And yet: to make it every so much more English, I recommend grabbing Liberty Tana Lawn scraps for the decoration. Brilliant British fabric on a brilliant British cake on a brilliant British day. Hoorah!
This not the ideal time for baking - here in New York we're suffering through a massive heat wave. But think of the Queen! (And for those of you without a digital scale here's a page with some very useful conversion tables. But I do hope you'll consider getting one - they help you measure much more precisely.)
