There is magic in the crochet hook of Japanese artist Toshiko Horiuchi-MacAdam. The images of her handmade playgrounds are enough to make even the most anti-handmade grumblers grin like fools.
The crocheted bouncy artworks started life as regular artworks until apparently the artist was approached by two children with a very good question. According to This is Colossal:
"(the) children approached her and asked if the sculpture, resembling a colorful hammock, could be climbed on. She nervously agreed and watched cautiously as her suspended artwork twisted and stretched as the kids climbed on top of it. Suddenly an idea was born."
Have a wander through more jaw-dropping images of their crochet playgrounds over at NetPlayWorks and try telling me you don't want to dash over to Japan to have a bounce yourself.
Utterly inspiring crafty art you can play on! Total craft win.
