Get your knit on for St Mungo's Woolly Hat Day 2012

woolly_hat_day1.jpgCalling all knitters! Fancy stitching up something that will give you that warm, fuzzy feeling? Homelessness charity St Mungo's are asking knitters across the UK to take to their sticks and string and help out the homeless.

It's St Mungos third annual Woolly Hat Day on Friday 26 October, and this year St Mungo's is looking to auction the distinctive woolly orange hats to raise money for their work supporting homeless people in rebuilding their lives.

The charity has worked across London and the South for more than 40 years, and has over 100 projects helping people with housing, health and work. They've changed the lives of thousands of people, and with their wave of woolly hats they hope to do more.

"We're appealing to knitters to help us make a big impact on this October's Woolly Hat Day. As the nights draw in and the temperature drops, life becomes even more difficult for anyone sleeping on the streets. By getting your needles and yarn out and creating a 'mountain' of hats, you'll be helping us to raise awareness and funds for our work supporting homeless and vulnerable people." said Russell Benson, community and events fundraising coordinator for St Mungo's.
