How to: sew Kendime Saklamam's Suspicions Bag

kendime_saklamam_bag.jpgThe scalloped Suspicions Bag by Turkish crafter Kendime Saklamam is perfectly on-trend - and the entire tutorial has a nifty English translation.

I recently discovered Wild Poppy Fields, the online diary of the very crafty Turkish blogger Kendime Saklamam, and now I'm extremely curious about this unsung country of handmade wonders.

Kendime's tutorial for Suspicions, a small bag with a scalloped flap, comes with a full English translation - the lady is obviously quite brainy, as well as skilled in the ways of DIY. Plus, there are some truly excellent step-by-step photos.

Kendime originally made this sweet gift for a friend who'd been the victim of repeated petty thefts at work. By carrying this cute bag with her as she went about her business she could be stylish and secure at the same time. Here's a link to Kendime's blog post about the creative process behind this bag - and here's the full how-to.

I love how this crafter mixes prints with fearless abandon, and the scalloped flap is perfectly on trend - plus I love her generosity in providing English translations of every single blog post, so that we Anglophones can get in on the craft fun!

How to: sew Kendime Saklamam's Suspicions Bag - Comments

  • Nilufer

Dear Ellen, thank you for this very sweet post about my blog and my bag tutorial. From your comments above I understand that my tutorial is understandable, I'm happy about this feedback as I have difficulty in trying to explain how to sew something due to my lack in sewing terminology both in English and in Turkish.
    Love

My pleasure!  It's a real challenge to do a tutorial in a second language (I'd be too chicken to even try!), but the important thing is that you used plentiful photographs - even if there is some minor confusion about some word or phrase, the photo is there as backup.  Please let us know if you post any more tutorials - we'd love to see them!

She put a bird on it!
