Remember using marbling at school to make cool papers? Putting oil based paint into water, swirling it around and then watching with wonder as it transfers onto your paper?
Now you can use this cool technique to decorate and paint your guitar!
Not too far removed from the school marbling technique you just need a few materials to get going and to perfect a couple of techniques.
There is an awesome tutorial to help you on your way to guitar swirliness. Follow the video below by Tony of The Swirling or follow the tutorials for swirling. His instructions are very indepth and are some of the best I've seen on the subject.
It seems to be really taking off in the custom guitar world and I can see why, with pre-swirled guitars reaching very high prices, many guitar players are turning to DIY to customise their beloved instruments.
Be warned though, this is not for the faint hearted, Tony warns that you should really think through the whole thing before you jump in as it involves taking your guitar apart and could damage it in the dipping process.
Not deterred? Go on, get swirling, there's no end to the possibilities that this technique can hold! Swirled shoes anyone?!
