Knitting pattern: Easy Cables Scandivian sweater

easy_cables.jpgAlways wanted to knit a cabled sweater, but never dared to for all the cables? Now here's your chance to give it a go. Chunky yarn and only four cables on the body, makes this a perfect first project, and like most Scandinavian knits it promises to keep you warm all through the winter.

Norwegian knitwear designer (and Crafty Crafty writer), Kaja Marie Lereng Kvernbakken, says that her goal has always been to make easy knits that will look gorgeous when finished, and with the Easy Cables sweater, we have to agree that she's managed to do just that. (It now sports over 600 favourites on Ravelry!)

"I first started out as a designer because friends were always asking me to teach them how to knit, but we had a hard time finding simple designs that they would actually wear when finished. That work resulted in a Beginner's Guide to Knitting, as well as a lot of other easy knits", she says.

That doesn't mean that you can't find some challenging knits in her portfolio, though. Lace and cables, entrelac and double knitting are only part of what can be found among her 100 + designs on Ravelry.

Kaja Marie currently has 4 patterns available for sale in English, but she says she will translate them all eventually, so if there is any of her designs that you like.

We think you should go and pester her on Ravelry or in Crafty Crafty's very own comment section, and tell her what patterns you want, and that she needs to speed up! The world needs more Scandinavian knits in English!
