Incase you were under the impression that all Mums nap while their children are sleeping, let me just set the record straight...we don't! As soon as their tiny heads hit the pillow we're like Tasmanian Devils whirling around the house doing all the jobs we couldn't do with the kids nipping at our heels. I love the idea that some women use their time more productively, and actually create beautiful art during this precious time, like Abby Glassenberg.
Her blog cleverly titled 'While She Naps' is a showcase for her stunning work, which combines elegant softies, collage and sculpture. Much of her work features birds made from beautiful fabrics, set inside boxes which are filled with clever collages. Much better than using the time to clean the toilet, I'm sure you'll agree! "A long time ago in a galaxy far away" I was summoned to make an egg holder with a difference as a gift for someone's husband. Apparently he is a devoted Star Wars fan and has wanted an egg holder for years, so we creatively combined the two.
With the celebration of the 30 years of Star Wars it was not difficult to find a magazine with a whole article of the old movies and a full array of fantastic pictures of all the characters. So allowing "the force to be with" me I began my endeavour of combining Jedi masters and storm troopers with paint, modge podge and varnish...

Bonjour, I am Malorie, a 22 year old South African who has made the sunny, tropical island of Mauritius her home.
For as long as I can remember my drug of choice has been creativity and if brought forward to a court of law the charges laid against me would be: painting, drawing, pottery, knitting & crocheting, jewellery making, sewing, cross stitch, embroidery, decoupage, mosaic and basically fabricating something of some sort. I am also guilty of hording everything and anything that can be somehow transformed into a work of art or craft. I love experimenting with all sorts of materials and also enjoy combining them i.e: drawing with shoe polish or combining powder paint with wood glue.
