Dips are possibly the finest not-really-food-but-still-food product there is. Next to popcorn. Sadly most tortilla chips are squidged full of fat and all kinds of nasty, the like of which turns your fingers an interesting shade of orange. Can't we just have simple crunchy squares of tortilla? Yes we can.
Fuss Free Flavours, mixed together by the lovely Helen, is one of my favourite sites for, well flavours that are fuss free. And it doesn't get much less fussy than making your own tortilla chips with a little bit of snipping, seasonsing and baking.
There's also a wealth of tasty dips on there for when you've perfected your dipping chips.
And you can support your community and learn a little about local fruit and vegetable co-ops too.
Lunch that is too cute to eat may be a bit of a lost cause. Anyone is going to have a hard time bringing themself to eat lunch that immediately makes you go awwwww. That doesn't stop the Hello Kitty Bento Boxes that I came across on Craft being the coolest way to present lunch ever.
A quick paddle through the Flickr photostream of Love Bones will present you with Hello Kitty, Thomas the Tank Engine and all manner of too-cute characters via the medium of tasty Japanese treats.
Top the photos of fabulous fluffy-themed food off with a bug-eyed pug puppy and you have all the right ingredients for a crafty lunch menu you are never going to be able to bring yourself to eat.
Art. Food. Cute. Win.
Tired of the same old cones and cups for your ice cream presentation? How about a little homemade ice cream sandwich to give a little order to your ice cream eating ways?
The Ice Cream Sandwich how to from instructables leads you through the whipping up of the cakey exterior and the spreading of the sweet sweet interior on the road to Ice Cream Sandwich perfection.
Step six of the recipe, amusingly, includes what can go wrong when your ice cream gets a bit on the melty side.
Suggestions to go off the (rocky) road and create different biscuit-ice cream combos open a whole world of ice cream sandwiches goodness.
Orderly squares of ice cream and biscuit heaven. Perfect summer sweetness.
Most monkeys hang out in the trees eating fruit, chattering and picking fleas off each other. They're not really considered a crafty bunch. There is always an exception to the rule though and this exception comes in the form of a cake-baking alternative monkey with a love of baking cakes.
Rainbow Monkey tells the tale of a scarf-wearing handknitted monkey who wears an eyebrow piercing and is not afraid to get into the kitchen and bake up a storm. Witness as he and his glamourous assistant whip up lemon drizzle cake, chocolate banana cake, chocolate cupcakes for vegan punks and mince pies.
Along with the photos of the Rainbow simian on his travels, you'll also find a collection of useful phrases should you find yourself out in the world with a monkey companion. "La mia scimmia é più intelligente di Barbie." (My monkey is more intelligent than Barbie.) may be particularly useful should a Barbie-based IQ test suddenly come up.
News of Rainbow Monkey has been scant of late but let's hope he updates more monkey magic soon.
Everyone seems to be drinking ginger beer at the moment as retro drinks become the new trend. So it's about time we turned our tastebuds back to the days of the Famous Five and made our own.
Over at Meet Me at Mike's they spent three weeks perfecting the finest of homemade ginger beers, and as always they're happy to share.
The recipe, which has taken its sweet time coming together as the perfect recipe was sought, makes 55 cups of the sweet stuff and takes three weeks from start to fizzy finish.
Add a little alcohol to make things more festive or just drink it 'beach style' fresh from the bottle. Yum.
Our sister site, The Bag Lady spotted a creation today that's got the fashion and crafting world excited and drooling in equal measure. I'm not sure who "Disa" is, but I'm betting that when she asked her friends for a Mulberry Alexa for her birthday, this probably wasn't what she meant. But frankly, I think I'd be every bit as thrilled with the edible version as I would with the real thing (which might even go out of fashion before the cake reached its use-by date; the satchel look is a bit 'everywhere' isn't it?) and the work that's gone into baking it is phenomenal.
It was made by Felicia, a self-taught baker and Mulberry lover from Singapore. The detailing on the edible bag is just amazing, particularly the care and attention that's gone into creating the gold hardware. We couldn't resist sharing a picture of the bag's interior, which almost certainly like it tastes every bit as great as it looks!

See how she did it in each and every delicious stage, here!
Lavender is a soothing smell that is said to help you relax and unwind. It's also great to grow in your garden because it encourages the rare and fluffy bumblebee to visit, and it wears its purple well too. When does the wonder of the great flower end? Not here, apparently as lavender goes biscuity.
This post about for Lavendar Biscuits pointed me in the direction of Meester Nik's recipe.
The fresh purple flowers look impressive right from stirring in stage, and with baking only taking 15 minutes you won't have to wait long to sink your teeth into them.
