How to: make an X-Wing Fighter from office supplies

X-Wing-from-Office-Supplies.jpgWho needs a light sabre when you have a Sharpie and a handful of bulldog clips? There's nothing like a bit of Star Wars craft to pass the time at your dreary 9-5 and learning How to Make an X-Wing Fighter from Office Supplies from Instructabler Spookylean is about as good as it gets.

Sneak into that office stationery cupboard and grab your X-Wing-making kit and if anyone sees you there's always the Jedi Mind Trick you've been practicing during those long boring meetings to fall back on. "These are not the staplers you're looking for."

Crafty art: handknitted knitting skeleton

knitted_skeleton1.jpgThe purled bone's connected to the garter bone. And the acrylic bone's connected to the cashmere bone...

This astounding stitched skeleton, cheerfully knitting himself a DNA scarf, is the work of Twilight Kallisti, author of the Crafting Chaos blog.

The skeletal fella is made up of a Bucky fourth generation skeleton covered in knitted bits from recycled sweaters. Magnificent and green fibre art fabulousness.

Crafty art: melting crockery

melting_teacup.jpgWitness melty marvellousness from artist Livia Marin with Broken Things art installation. The group of liquefying loveliness is made from porcelain and ceramic objects, with resin plaster and transfer-prints to create the gloopy effect.

Not terribly useful if you fancy a cup of tea but amazing stuff.

How to: make a Mad Men-style knitting needle clock

knitting_needle_clock.jpgLove this retro-chic knitting needle clock from Naughty Secretary Club. It's made from an old clock, a supply of old knitting needles and a bit of Don Draper-style craftiness.

For added Mad Men authenticity you can stand under it with a tumbler of whiskey and try to come up with catchy ideas to sell lipstick.

See the whole Mid-century Modern Knitting Clock tutorial here.

Kindle cover from recycled suit

kindle_cover.jpgThis Scrappy Kindle Cover was created from an old tweed suit rescued from a charity shop by the mother and daughter team over at Scrap-E-Do. The suit was felted in the washing machine, chopped up and embroidered to create a fabulous cosy.

A simple, clever and kooky handmade on the cheap, and a little bit of eco craft too. Keep an eye on Scrap-E-Do for more vintage and upcycled craft ideas or check out their Folksy shop.
